First spice company in the Registered Association of Food without Genetic Modification (VLOG) 

Since 2009, foods with the voluntary information "without genetic engineering" may be labelled accordingly. These foods must have been produced without the use of genetic modification. The EU Genetic Engineering Implementing Act (EGGenTDurchfG) regulates which conditions must be precisely fulfilled. 

In 2009, the Registered Association of Food without Genetic Engineering (VLOG) was entrusted with the administration and the examination of whether the seal’s conditions - "without genetic engineering" - are fulfilled. In 2015, AVO was the first company in the German spice industry to join the Registered Association of Food without Genetic Engineering. (VLOG). 

“Genetic-Modification-free" - for meat and sausage products too 

At first, the seal was almost exclusively found on dairy products. However, growing consumer interest in "GMO-free" products has led to its expansion in the food trade. In addition to dairy products, meat and sausage products from poultry, beef and pork are now increasingly being awarded the seal.

VLOG-compliant AVO spices 

Meanwhile, 9,000 different products to a value of more than 5 billion euros are labelled annually with the seal by 700 association members. AVO recognized the trend at an early stage and has been providing reliable support to its customers in the food retail and food industry for years in the development of individual VLOG-compliant spices, spice blends, marinades and seasoning sauces.
